Programme Officer (JPO), Empowerment of Adolescents, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Duty station: Child Protection, Dhaka, Bangladesh (Post # 12966)
Duration: one year initially with the possibility to extend up to three years


Eligibility: The post, sponsored by the Dutch Government, is open to candidates

who have the nationality of a developing country that appears on the list of
countries eligible for the Dutch JPO programme and who have the qualifications
specified below.

PURPOSE OF THE POST:
To provide assistance to the overall programme in strengthening peer education
to adolescents to equip them with life skills and livelihood skills aiming at
protecting them from abuse, exploitation and violence, including child marriage
and dowry.

THE JPO WILL:
• Provide support in the development of adolescents LSBE and livelihood policies

and materials by designing appropriate interventions for both government and
NGOs in order to strengthen their capacity to work with adolescents affected by
all forms of violence and discrimination.
• Ensure that effective utilization of communication and advocacy materials in
the areas of gender discrimination and violence, particularly focusing on the
promotion of positive behaviors. Provide support to Adolescents' community-based

work and assist in the organization of and preparations for workshops and
seminars.
• Analyze and respond to project proposals from various relevant partners

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: University degree in social sciences, psychology, social
psychology/pedagogy or related field.

Work experience: For candidates with Master Degree preferably 2 years of
experience, for Bachelor's degree minimal of 3 year of work experience in the
field of research and in designing sustainable livelihood projects for
adolescents; management administration, monitoring and evaluation of project,
preferably in a developing country context. Familiarity with child rights, life

skills based education, community-based work, advocacy with community leaders,
livelihood approach and gender issues would be an asset.

Language: Fluency in English required. Knowledge of Bangla an advantage.

Skills: Strong coordinating, analytical (qualitative and quantitative),
communication and networking skills
Very good inter-personal skills
Facilitation skills
Ability to work in an international and multicultural team

Grade: P1 step 1 or P2 step 1 the first year, depending on the level of
education and experience.
